Gearbox Software has just dropped the launch trailer for Battleborn, the latest game from the creators of Borderlands. The game finally hits the shelves early next week, and the new trailer offers a look at the game’s unique, ragtag band of heroes. You can check out the video, which features new gameplay footage in the player below.
Battleborn basically looks like the style and humor of Borderlands, but with a more Star Wars meets Marvel Comics type of bent. It’s set in a universe that’s about to blink out of existence. The Battleborn are the last group of heroes who are set to defend the last star, Solus, from being destroyed, which would bring obliteration to the galaxy.
It looks like Battleborn is poised to become another huge hit for 2K Games and Gearbox. It seems to have a tighter, more straight-forward story than Destiny, plus it looks like it’s really embracing an effusive, humorous style. Even though the subject matter is bleak, the game seems to keep a light and fun attitude.
The game launches with 25 unique heroes to play as. Players can play solo or with friends in Story missions or competitive multiplayer matches. Battleborn launches on May 3 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Windows PC.
